You'll be switching between at least two of them throughout the fight.

Anshal

Anshal is preferable to Rohash for Moonkins despite him generally being the 'melee platform'. We gain more from the multi-target nature platform than the single-target wind boss. You definitely want to have your RL place you with Anshal, along with any other strong multi-dotting ranged classes. This is different than a 'strong AoE class' since the adds should all be killed separately by dps here, not grouped up as they provide stacking debuffs if close together.

Ideally, place yourself in a Solar Eclipse for the add spawns. Being able to double-DoT each add as it spawns will spike you extremely high. Any haste procs you have available are best used here before applying DoTs to add extra ticks (Nature's Grace, Heart of Ignacious, Power Infusion, etc). Just make sure you calculate which you need to reach the extra haste breakpoints for IS and MF/SF.

Starfall should be saved to finish the adds. This allows all other dps to establish threat on them so you aren't insta-tanking all of them. Just in case you still pull threat on many if not all of the adds, use this to your advantage by placing a Mushroom pack at your location before the fight starts. As they reach you, back up and detonate for a massive-damage global.

They'll quickly be cleaned up in time to transfer to Nezir's platform before an ultimate where you can begin a single-target rotation. If you get an instant Starsurge, the Shooting Stars proc was increased to 12 sec, so you can afford to save one while moving from one platform to another.

Rohash

If you're not lucky enough to be assigned to Anshal, then Rohash still can be done well. He isn't tanked and stays in place, allowing you to start the fights with a Mushroom pack already in place, waiting for a Solar Eclipse to detonate.

Keeping your damage up while moving to avoid the Wind Blast will be key to maintaining high dps. If you've already burst your shrooms, you have enough time to replace a triple stack while avoiding the clockwise blast. Remember the closer to Rohash you are, the less you'll have to move to avoid a Blast but the more you'll have to move to avoid Tornados.

After the first ultimate ability is finished, you should be wanting to return to Rohash from Nezir's platform. It's important here to watch the timer for Wind Blast. You don't want to jump back only to arrive into an unavoidable Blast. It's preferable to wait until this CD is over before returning the first time. The timer is more forgiving on the second return and you should have ample time to get back and prepare for an incoming Wind Blast.

Lastly, have not only travel form close by, but a Cat Form-Dash macro for switching platforms the first time. If your raid dps is slow, you'll have it up again for the final switch to Nezir. If you're on Rohash, you'll likely have a long run to reach Nezir since he should be tanked close to the Anshal side of his platform to accommodate the switching healers' ranges.

Nezir

You'll want to plan accordingly to have cooldowns ready to stack on the ending burn on Nezir. This is where Bloodlust/Heroism is ideally spent and Nezir will have a full complement of raid debuffs on him. If he has enough health left to get use of a full duration of Volcanic Potion, then that's a wonderful use of your second dps potion for the fight. If he's too low and will die significantly sooner than the 25-second duration, you might want to use the in-combat potion during the second spawning of Anshal's adds.

Update

I'll be starting to post again after a long break but the focus will be shifting.

I've reached every gold goal I've set for myself with ease and it's lost it's luster. I'm currently at 3.2 million net profit and 1.7 million liquid. I gave away ~800,000 to guild members the night before Cataclysm's launch to help facilitate getting for raids quickly. Then I spent another ~700,000 on gearing my toon and others, maxing people's professions and random giveaways and prizes to guild members since December.

I've been noticing a significant lack of Balance Druid(me) fight-specific tips in this content so I thought I'd use this existing space to post some guides.

Stress is the fertilizer of Creativity and our raid's dps core definitely can put the pressure on each other to compete at very high levels. We consistently have our top 5 on a night ranking on WoL. This environment has contributed to learning the fights in minute detail to maximize numbers.

So look for incoming guides on the first 14 raid bosses of Cataclysm.

The Fallout

I've been a bit preoccupied since hitting my goal of one million gold. The earnings have still continued though. In fact, by this point the process is so streamlined, the gold makes itself. However, there were some humorous and interesting results of the million that are worthy of mentioning.

The popular news site WoW.com wrote a piece on me which led to some wonderfully insightful and hilariously ignorant conversation.

http://www.wow.com/2010/05/12/the-classifieds-one-million-gold-in-his-pocket/4#comments

The real value came in the follow up article written by their Insider Trader columnist. He was a little quick to judgement and didn't review the facts before publishing. He got called out by his readership in what turned out to be a locked column that reached its flaming capacity at twenty-two pages.

http://www.wow.com/2010/05/17/insider-trader-selling-arrows-in-singles-for-the-price-of-a-sta/

There's some really well written arguments back and forth for anyone wanting to take some time and read them on a Tuesday maintenance.

New Goals

I'm now well past the 1.2 million mark and going strong. Looking at my g/week rate, I won't have time to hit two million before Cataclysm but I will see how high I can get before the expansion. The server transfer method would easily work but I only wanted to do it once as a test for its potential.

The readership here grew significantly because of the exposure gained on reaching my goal. Awareness on my own server has spiked as well. Because of this, I plan on continuing to write and publish as often as my schedule allows. I have many half-finished pieces that were never completed on my way to a million.

Once Cataclysm does hit, I have a gold reward system in place for my guild. The coin will all be used to power level raiders in small teams to 85 as quickly as possible. There will be bonuses in place for each date of completion. The earlier the date, the larger the bonus. With unlimited funds, there is no need to loot bodies, no reason to return to towns or leave the dungeon grind. XP gain is king.

Once at the level cap, the crafting professions will all be maxed and the best available epic crafted gear will be handed out. Raiding will commence as soon as 10 and 25man teams are available. With Cataclysm's release, this blog will shift from a focus on gold to highlight this race for server firsts.

Once that first hectic week is past us, I'll be focusing on the new economy and all of its glorious flaws, advantages and opportunities.

ONE MILLION

Late Tuesday night I passed my goal of one million gold.

It took some work getting all the gold mailed to one toon and into it's alt Guild Bank so I could take a picture, but it's done. It's a relief and not as anti-climactic as I was afraid it would be.

The entire journey took me six months. From November 8th to May 4th. I started with only 1,000g and a basic understanding of the Auction House, no addons and no stock of items.

Fun Facts:

Averaged 46,080g per week in profit

1500+ active auctions at any one time

Largest single day gain - 51,781g

Largest single day loss - 18,254g

Single Iceblade Arrow sales - 16,374g

Rare & Epic Spellthread profit - 81,313g

Gold earned from GDKPs - 28,312g :) :)

Gold spent at GDKPs - 71,210g :( :(

Vendor Pets profit - 19,448g

Largest profit from a single item - Ring of Rotting Sinew 9,512g

Largest % profit from item - Plans : Titanium Razorplate 3308% 80g to 2646g

Most expensive item purchased - Deathbringer's Will 17,000g

Most expensive item sold - Mechano-hog 15,210g

Gold lost to AH 5% fee - 64,712g

The server transfer experiment certainly pushed me the last quarter of the way as I profited more than 254k in two weeks, including my normal markets. The potential earnings from buy/sell runs are incredible and if the destinations are chosen well, one could get to a million in one month from that process alone.

I plan to still run my markets but at a much more relaxed pace. I have my addons and processed down to a quick 70 minutes/day to post and craft everything I need done. That's 30 minutes in the morning to craft and post, 20 minutes before rush hour(6-7pm) to repost and 20 minutes after raids end (11-12pm) to restock the AH.

As for the gold itself, the main use will be to power level the raiding core of my guild to lvl85 with unlimited funds. We'll be going for as many server firsts as we can in classes/races/professions. Heroics and raids should also be possible if we have enough of a headstart from the gold. The Alliance rule our server and we're a Horde minority, so it will be interesting how much of an advantage the time saved will net us.

For anyone thinking of taking on a gold goal before Cataclysm, there's more than six months of stagnant game time ahead of you. The potential to earn your own million is waiting...

Server Transfer Experiment

I've had a low lvl DK on the Mal'ganis PvP server for a couple months now so I could experience an extremely high population realm. It also has a massive Horde majority. After seeing the all-too-appetizing prices of epics and popular items, I decided on another experiment.

I planned out a server transfer with my 80 mage for a buy/sell run to Mal'ganis and back. A transfer limits your toon to 20k gold but you do get all your bank and bag space to bring items. To be ready, I needed a few things.

I'd need to build up a stock of easily sellable items so I could liquidate them quickly once transfered.

I'd need to get constant scans of both servers AH to have the most reliable values for markets.

I'd need to buy up items with my Mal'ganis DK early, to maximize what my mage could bring back.

I'd need to plan out a minimum profit margin for each bank slot since space is limited.

After researching items that I'd make profit on or at least retain close to 100% of the value, I filled up my bank and bags and set off. I figured I'd have an extra 35k in items to liquidate, but I fared even better and was able to quickly sell the inventory for more than 40k, bringing my shopping budget to 60k. Now the fun started.

Using the Arbitrage feature on Auctioneer, you can cross reference the value of items BETWEEN servers. You just need to make sure you have a large time frame of scans from both so your numbers are reliable. A simple scan and click then sorts all of the AH for you, telling you what your expected profit will be on each item. To give you an idea of margins, here are a few examples:

Plans : Titanium Razorplate - 350g on Mal'ganis, 2.6k @ home, 743% value

Ring of Rotting Sinew - 3k on Mal'ganis, 9.5k @ home, 317% value

Rowan's Rifle of Silver Bullets - 1k on Mal'ganis, 4k @ home, 400% value

Eternal Life - 9g on Mal'ganis, 22g @ home, 244% value

Ptn : Royal Moonshroud Robe - 90g on Mal'ganis, 2.1k @ home, 2333% value

The profit margin per item is half the equation though, since you have to take into account whether the item stacks or not. For example, the Eternal Life is worth more than double after a transfer, but it only stacks to 20 making a single bank slot only worth 260g profit. Conversely, epics take up a slot each, being unstackable. However their profit per slot is much higher.

Because of this, I spent the large majority of my gold on these items. With my realm being significantly behind Mal'ganis on raid progression, 264 BoEs are still highly valuable and desired. This is what my bank space looked like on the transfer back.

My mage has been back for one day and I've already unloaded 40k in items. I'm trying to stick to trade chat sales to save the 5% fees. Since I'm looking at around 200k in value from the total items, I'd rather not waste 10,000g in auction house fees.

Updates

Gold Caps
Earlier this week I flew through my third gold cap, making 20k gold the very next day. There is currently a high profit margin on crafted ilvl264 boots/pants on my server that has contributed to my strong growth lately.

GDKP

I've spent upwards of 30k on items between two alts since I started the gdkp runs a month ago. The actual gold earned from the runs and the flipped BoEs I win amount to half of that 30k though, which softens the blow.

Single Iceblade Arrow Sales

After the first three weeks, I had made a little over 2,000g from single arrow sales. My total is now up to 9,000g thanks to both the Horde and Alliance markets. I also used this strategy to fund a new DK on a very high-population realm. After three weeks of just posting single arrows, he's up to 2,400g (not counted in the 9k total).

Vendor Pets

My previous total in mid-January was 7,000g from vendor pet sales. Currently I'm a little past 13k in pet sales. None of these are crafted or drops... they are all available from vendors cheaply.

ICC25 GDKP

We did another ICC run under the auction format that was much more financially successful than the first, so I wanted to lay out the results in another post.

Again, it was just a clear through Saurfang but unlike last week, we had trash drops and trinkets drop this time. For those unfamiliar, it's a live auction raid where all drops are bid on and the total gold is divided evenly to the raid at the end.

We've run three ToC25 raids and an ICC25 so far. None of the runs had high-value items drop like trinkets or Bryntroll. That being said, the overall response was highly positive. I've received countless mails and whispers of thanks for previous runs and interest in future ones.

Raiders

A quick lesson learned from the first ToC25 was skill/gear balancing. I took a core of about 10 people from my guild on a mix of alts and mains and the rest was open to trade chat applicants. Despite requiring vent and giving explanations pre-fight, it resulted in a three hour raid that should have only taken one. There were several wipes and even successful attempts took a very long time: 14-minute Beasts, 13-minute Faction Champs.

I started vetting applicants after that experience and the three runs since have been wipe free and painless. WoW-Heroes has a nice new pulldown category on everyones profile called Raid Statistics. It gives you a complete breakdown of their boss kills for every raid situation in WotLK. Immediately you can identify a player's experience and knowledge of what they're asking to attend. If they're on an alt, just ask for their main and look it up as well.

Another important component is balancing the class and armor types in the raid. You'll want a healthy mix of geared and undergeared players in each role (tank, healer, ranged, melee) and armor type to ensure that as many items as possible have value. This will result in more competitive bids and not minimum prices for every item that drops.

It's not necessary to have only experienced players. However, having a 30-40% core that are in charge of the key roles (2 tanks, 1 tank healer, 2 raid healers, 1-2 ranged, 1-2 melee) will save on headaches and time drastically. Since anyone can win an item regardless of their current role in the raid, there will still be melee wanting the tank gear, casters wanting healing gear and druids and paladins wanting everything.

Format

It's important with this loot format to be upfront with the rules early and often to avoid confusion. There is a GDKP addon called Goldraidmanager that will help you run the raid a bit more seamlessly. However, I find it clunky and a very poor user interface. I only use one feature of the add-on which is an auto advertiser. I can set my text, channel to post in and interval of minutes between posts. This allows me to announce a raid in the hours before, so I can take applicants questions and not focus on a trade macro.

I have the rules in a 4-macro set that I raid warning when the group is forming and have other assistants take questions on how the process works. When everyone is in vent, we go over it again in person just to be sure. It's important to have everyone on the same page before they get saved to the instance. I even do a practice auction on one of my pieces of gear I link so they can see the process in action.

All bids should be in raid chat and we take the first correct bid as the official bid for that amount. If 5 people open the bidding at 150g for a ToC25 item, then only the first person has that bid. Everyone else was late and must increase their bid if they wish to bid again.

Keep public track of the total gold after each boss and invite others to keep track as well. At the end of the run, I have them form a single-file line and come open trade with me for their share. After the trade, they are removed from the raid to avoid any chance at double-dipping.

ToC25

The first ToC25 run resulted in about 1250g per person.

The second ToC25 finished with 572g per person.

The third ToC25 earned 634g per person.

The first run included a nice number of BoEs and patterns which brought the total up significantly compared to the 2nd and 3rd. Depending on your server, ToC is still quite profitable. Juggernaut's Vitality, Death's Choice, Reign of the Dead and Solace of the Fallen are still highly sought after trinkets, even for those in ICC gear.

Additionally, the instance is ripe with pattern drops and BoEs that will increase your run's total gold. There are two cloaks, two rings and a neck that are still in the 6-8k range on my server.

ICC25

The ICC25 run resulted in 37,300g or 1492g per person, with many items in the 5k range including Tier tokens, a BoE Ikfirus's Sack of Wonder and Nibelung. I handed out the gold split after Saurfang and we went on to kill the Valk mini-boss for a final Frost Emblem.

There is potential for massive totals from the Citadel wing of ICC25 and hopefully we'll see some of those drops this week. I know some are willing to drop as much on a trinket as the entire first run combined.

For this instance, the balance of geared/ungeared isn't an issue since it's current content and almost everyone will want something from the bosses. There were only two items that went for below 1500g and it was because they were fairly spec-specific.

VoA25

I've stayed away from VoA25 as a GDKP format. I'm not writing it off entirely, but since everything that drops is either class specific or PvP gear, the pool of bidders on any given item will be at best two to three people. I will be attempting one this week as a trial run, assuming we can actually win WG on an off night for our guild.

When you factor in the time spent, even the low net runs of ~600 gold isn't bad for 1.5 hours of time considering you were raiding instead of just playing the AH. My gold/hour is much higher on the AH but this provides an avenue of raiding I wouldn't otherwise have access to on my alts. It's also strengthening our guild's alt base to ICC25 readiness levels.

Layered Profit

There are a few popular Chain Crafting routes that many goblins take. You start with a base mat like an Ore, Herb, Eternal or Leather and end up with a finalized product 3 to 6 steps later using multiple professions.

The post popular of these is the Saronite Shuffle. The only other materials needed are Eternals to craft disenchantables and Metas. To experienced goblins, this flowchart is a practiced and proven method of profit. A problem arises though for those that just copy the process and don't understand the reasons behind it. Goblins know the markets of each step and can constantly evaluate their effectiveness.

Beginners though, will blindly follow the list assuming it works for their sever, timing or base mat costs. Chain Crafting doesn't always finish with the highest profit step.

Saronite Ore

Prospected Smelted

Rare Gems Uncommon Gems Titanium Bars

                       Cuts Metas JC Rings

                                                                 Disenchant

                                                     Enchant Scrolls

Quite often, the middle steps have the highest profit margin. Additionally, each step's product has it's own supply and demand and requires different amounts of each to fill the needs of your server. If you become familiar with the demand for each step's product, you can better estimate how much Saronite Ore you need to complete them all without flooding any markets.

A Titanium Bar requires 16 Saronite Ore and Rare Gems have a 20% proc rate from prospecting. The Uncommon Gems are a given with each prospect and you have an even chance at all 6 of the colors.

Let's use another Chain Craft as an example with the most popular gold-making profession, Inscription.

Adder's Tongue

Azure Pigment Icy Pigment

Ink of the Sea Snowfall Ink

All Other Inks Vellum Off Hand Runescroll Darkmoon

Glyphs

Most goblins use up all the mats to mass produce Glyphs for bulk sales. There are many other venues for profit though and each should be utilized. Very few people save pigments to sell. It's even worth it to keep an eye on lower herbs to mill for pigments as leveling toons can't always find the herbs themselves.

All Inks are available in Dalaran from the Scribe shop at a turn in rate of 1 Ink of the Sea for 1 of any other type. I have a Quick Auctions group set up for Pigments and one for Inks. Ten of each Ink(except IoTS) are listed on 48-hour cycles with a fallback of 8g and a threshold of 2g. There are rarely competitors though and they sell out to Inscription levelers. Azure pigments and others that I can mill for low costs are in another group for a fallback of 3g and threshold of 1.5g.

Snowfall Inks sell constantly in a QA group for 25g fallback and 10g threshold. Save some of the Icy Pigments used to create Snowfall and sell those as well. I consistently get 50% more profit for the pigments that turn into the inks than than the inks themselves.

The important concept to remember is the base value of the Herb you choose to mill. Each step should result in a profit, otherwise not only did you lose money, but you wasted time crafting a step to do so. Instead of crafting all those glyphs that don't sell because there's an undercutting war going on, why not put your mats into earlier steps in the chain?

You're now turning over your base mats at a faster rate and you're making profit by supplying the goblins battling each other with exceedingly low glyph thresholds. It's like the old saying - focus on the journey, not the destination.

Beggars

Everyone's seen them. The beggars that whisper you, yell or beg in trade chat for a few gold. They need something and aren't willing to earn it.

The most recent one asked if he 'could have some gold.' This time I didn't explode his chat window with a /r macro filled with explanations of EPGP 50 times. This time I was feeling playful. I said "Sure, if I can have some too."

For some reason, he agreed and opened a trade window and put I put in 136,000g while he entered 3g. To do this, you need the quest item (Lovely Charm Collector's Kit) in your inventory while killing mobs to collect Lovely Charms. Ten charms create one Lovely Charm Bracelet.

The bracelets are a tradable, sellable item and more importantly... they're readily farmable. Normally I wouldn't recommend farming anything. But depending on the going rate of this quest item on your sever, it can be worth it. The trick comes in where to farm.

Our weekly raid quest was XT in Ulduar and we found by default that after a very quick approach to Flame Leviathon that we had close to 100 charms from killing Iron Dwarves with our vehicles. On my server, the 10 bracelets they turned into sold for 340g. For 2 minutes of firing at dwarves... that respawn.

You can easily go into Ulduar 10 or 25 with a two-person team and get a Demolisher vehicle. Load up and start the slaughter. Just remember to not destroy the Dwarf towers or you'll have to go deeper and deeper for more trash. If you're feeling confident, have your Demo driver exit the vehicle in a central location and go get a Motorcycle. He can round up all the trash and bring it back for your Air Missile attacks for large bursts of quest items.

Greed/Disenchant Options

If there is an enchanter in your group, everyone has the option of Greed to receive the item as is, or to Disenchant and get the item's respective worth as Dream Shards, Abyss Crystals, Greater Cosmic Essences or Infinite Dust. I've come across too many instances, excuse the pun, of people misusing the Disenchant option during LFGs that I thought it's worth going over.

I've witnessed all range of players choosing to Disenchant items that Vendor for significantly more than the enchant mats are worth. Personally, I'd rather pocket the vendor price of 14g on a green weapon than the 5 dust I'll receive that isn't worth more than 6g.

These are the excuses I've heard so far when I point out that they're better off paying attention to the vendor price for an item before blindly clicking Disenchant...

"Oh but I'd still rather have the enchant mats." - You could buy even more enchant mats by vendoring for better gold.

"Not on my server. They are worth more." - Prove it. I have yet to see a server where Dust is still high or Shards are above 10g.

"It's easier to just always click Disenchant." - So be it. What else do you do because it's easier but less efficient in life?

"I get lucky on Disenchanting procs." - The human mind exaggerates probability in memory. We remember the highs but not the lows or vice versa to fit our own current delusion. Everyone's probability is the same over time.

If you're only doing a single LFG run a day for your Emblems of Frost, this may not add up to much. However, if you're ever running more Heroics, you'll want to change up your routine.

Breakdown
While everyone's server economies are different, there's a general range that most items fall into. On my server, Dust is 1.2g average, Shards are 6g, Essences are 14g and Crystals are 28g. This will fluctuate based on your AH but not by a percentage great enough to justify losing money. On most green/blue/purple quality items, Disenchant IS the superior profit option. But most ≠ always.

Items vendor for significantly more based on the item type and armor class. Plate vendors for more than cloth, weapons more than waists, etc. There are many addons that can give you a breakdown of an item's AH history, vendor value, disenchant/mill/prospect percentages are and more. They will tell you probability of an item turning into any of the enchant mats and how many of those items will proc on average as well. Use one and you'll never be guessing which option to choose during your runs.

The only situations that require a careful decision are those items that have a chance to proc both Dust and Essences. Since the price of these two items are so drastically different, you'll want to weigh the probability of getting Essences against both the Vendor price and Dust probability and proc amounts.

While less frequent, some people still don't pay attention to Bind on Equip rare items and choose Disenchant or even Greed followed by Vendoring the item. These should always be listed on the AH for a much higher profit. I generally get 25-30g for blue-quality BoE items and up to 100g for sought after pieces that are superior to others while leveling. Check out your AH for lvl70-80 rare BoEs and take note of those that sell well.

Shady Behavior
When items like Damaged Necklace(350g) or Book of Glyph Mastery(30g) drop, you can wait until the rest of the group has selected Greed and then Need, claiming it's for your profession. Unless they are looking up your profile online, they can't dispute otherwise.

On the end boss (or earlier bosses if you're confident you won't get vote kicked) you can just need on items that aren't worth Disenchanting since the consequence of being called a ninja post-run is minimal.

Depending on the price of Abyss Crystals on your server and if you are able to Need on an epic, you make slightly more gold over time. Being a group of 5, you have a 20% chance to win the roll on the item. Since Abyss are 28 on my server, (28g x 20% = 5.6g) I would make an average of 5.6 gold per run on the final epic. For those items that you can Need on, just check if the vendor price is more than 1/5 of your server's Abyss rate. If so, then Need if you're willing to risk a ninja reputation in your Battlegroup.

If you want to be even more shady, always Vote to Kick the lowest damage member of the group before pulling the last boss. There is no Heroic run where having only two dps is going to hurt your chances of success. This allows you a 25% chance to win final loots instead of only 20%.

When it comes to Heroic Trial of the Champion, Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron and Halls of Reflection, it's important to note that loot is higher in item level. The epics are lvl219 and 232 in these Heroics. Since vendor values are based partly on item level, expect to see tighter margins here between the Abyss Crystal or Vendor choices.

Vendor Pets

After seeing early on what vendor pets are capable of selling for, I created an exclusive toon to sell vendor pets from. This took quite a while to set up, but once finished, provides you with a steady income. Or, if you're a goblin it can be a nice supplementary profit to your other markets. I don't bother much with crafted pets from Engineering since the whole concept of this AH alt was to profit purely from vendor-available pets.

Why would someone buy a pet available from a vendor at much cheaper prices? A toon is lazy and knows they're available or they're ignorant of it's location. Either way, you profit.

Basics
There are eight Horde pets, ten Alliance pets, one limited supply Alliance pet, two at Booty Bay, five in Netherstorm and three Dalaran pets available from vendors. It's important to note that all of the faction pets are accessible by a lvl1 toon. It's just the Netherstorm, Dalaran and Booty Bay pets that require a little travel.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 330px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/S10OzJ61GnI/AAAAAAAAAC0/KBzJZpfkONA/s400/Pets.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430512997677472370" />

Cheap Pets
Black Kingsnake (Org)
Brown Snake (Org)
Crimson Snake (Org)
Red Dragonhawk (Fairbreeze Village)
Golden Dragonhawk (Fairbreeze Village)
Silver Dragonhawk (Fairbreeze Village)
Prairie Dog Whistle (TB)
Cockroach (UC)
White Moth Egg (Exxodar)
Blue Moth Egg (Exxodar)
Yellow Moth Egg (Exxodar)
Rabbit Crate (Ironforge)
Cat Carrier Bombay (Goldshire)
Cat Carrier Orange (Goldshire)
Cat Carrier Cornish Rex (Goldshire)
Cat Carrier Silver Tabby (Goldshire)
Cat Carrier Siamese (Netherstorm)
Hawk Owl (Darnassus)
Great Horned Owl (Darnassus)
Parrot Cage Senegal (Booty Bay, limited -- Netherstorm unlimited)
Parrot Cage Cockatiel (Booty Bay, limited)

Expensive Pets
Albino Snake (Dalaran)
Calico Cat (Dalaran)
Obsidian Hatchling (Dalaran)
Red Moth Egg (Netherstorm)
Brown Rabbit Crate (Netherstorm)
Blue Dragonhawk (Netherstorm)
Mana Wyrmling (Netherstorm)
White Kitten (Stormwind, limited)

Personally, I stock 50+ of each 'cheap' pet in the mailbox of my alt. Having 12 pets in a single mail, with 50 mail items visible at a time, allows for a huge storage space and easy restocking between cancel/post sessions. Just make sure to return and mail back a batch before they expire every 30 days.

The cheap Horde pets are all put into a Quick Auctions group with a set fallback and threshold. I use 15g fallback and a 1g threshold with two of each posted at a time for 24-hour posts. This allows for huge percentage profit without flooding the availability.

The Alliance pets I set into a second group that has higher margins since they're harder to acquire by my fellow Horde. Fallback prices are set at 75g and thresholds still quite low at 5g.

The expensive pets fall into a third group with a much higher threshold so I don't lose any gold on a transaction, but the Fallback is significantly higher at 300g since they aren't seen often on the AH. Many first-timers will be more inclined to make the purchase if the price is high versus more affordable. If it costs hundreds of gold, it must be a rare drop right? :)

There is no Refund button on the Auction House and you should always take advantage of that lacking feature.

Results
I've made over 7k gold from vendor pets since starting my gold-making run to a million. It's not a huge slice of my pie, but it's steady and a very fun category to profit from. I've only recently brought over Alliance pets in bulk and as you can see...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 209px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/S10OZQNrTVI/AAAAAAAAACk/JMO0jEVB_qg/s400/PetResults.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430512552690535762" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 288px; height: 237px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/S10Ol7gqdVI/AAAAAAAAACs/r1km9ttOoJk/s320/PetResultsMacro.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430512770471327058" />
it's made quite the difference in sales. I've cleared more than 2k gold in the last week alone on pets.

My next step to advance this category is bringing my first bulk batch of Horde pets to my Alliance alt. Not only will I be doubling my presence on Auction Houses, but the Allies are the large majority on my server.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 86px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/S10P4Rj2zuI/AAAAAAAAAC8/xDuhcGBysgs/s400/PetTrade.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430514185139572450" />

Second Gold Cap

It took me six weeks to hit the first gold cap and only four weeks, Dec. 19th to Jan 17th, to hit it again. When two items are meant to be used together, they can be sold in contrasting quantities so you're forced to buy more than you need. With hot dogs commonly sold in packs of six, the buns are found in packs of eight. This means you're buying two extra buns or having to buy four & three packs of each to come out with even pairs.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/S0wBEsphhII/AAAAAAAAACc/5CDbvxc5TdM/s320/kobayashi.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425712831291032706" />

Stacking Strategies
As this applies to WoW, it assumes you can either coordinate the market so everyone posts the same, or control it individually. A prime example of this is green-quality gems. Both the daily Jewelcrafting quest and the Icy Prism cooldown require these items.

With the Jewelcrafting daily, I make sure to buyout all the affordable single-stacked gems of the day's required colors and post my own in stacks of two.

With the Icy Prism mats - 3 Chalcedony, 3 Dark Jade, 3 Shadow Crystal - I post in stacks of four or five, depending on what the demand allows for.

I've gotten Chalcedony and Dark Jade prices up to the 13-15g range on my server. These pay for all of my Saronite Ore prospecting, allowing any green-quality and blue-quality cuts to be pure profit.

This method is applicable to other markets as well:

• Tailors need Eternal Life, Earth & Shadow in pairs. You can easily manage your own three-stacks to be the best deals.

• Arctic Fur is now accessible with a Dalaran vendor trading for 10 Heavy Borean Leather. Stack more than 10, less than 15.

• Herbs are milled in stacks of five, but bought in large quantities so you might only benefit from those buying for flask mats.

• Inscription Inks require multiple pigments so sell these in odd quantities.

• Six Snowfall Inks are used for Darkmoon Cards of the North, so sell in stacks of 5 during Darkmoon Faire weeks.

Single Iceblade Arrows

When the initial hype was released on Greedy Goblin about selling arrows for 100 as opposed to 1000 per stack, it drew a lot of controversy. I decided to take it a step further. The original method relied on an inability of the user's interface to display the different stack sizes correctly. This opened the debate for whether it was a scam or not and talk of ethics, morals and colorful adjectives were thrown about the gold-making community. However, what if we remove that handicap to the argument and leave no doubt, no matter what UI the player has, about the quanitity of the product?

Could the customer's mistake be taken to an extreme and have profit not rely on the visual similarity of 100 vs. 1000?

The Experiment
I created a stack of arrows from 1g worth of mats - two Crystallized Shadow. These 1000 arrows were then posted as singles, up 10 at a time. The goal was to get through as many SINGLE arrow sales as possible before the average population caught on. Just how much could I turn 1g into by merely relying on my customers assumptions?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 208px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/S0veMmRFO-I/AAAAAAAAACE/IrYWIaz8iys/s400/SingleArrowHoF.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425674484109884386" />

I had to adjust my prices to undercut what full stacks were going for, so prices fluctuated from double to single digits as December turned into January. BeanCounter kept track of my sales for the item which just passed the 2k gold mark. I recently started this on the Alliance side as well. I plan on alternating each faction, where the presence of single stacks are there one week, gone the next. This should give the short-term memory players a chance to reset their gullibility.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 361px; height: 288px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/S0vhubs0omI/AAAAAAAAACM/XKHT9YkpDMk/s400/SingleArrowHoFMacro.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425678363923882594" />

The best recorded data has been the return customers. These same toons have come back to purchase more single arrows. I currently have about a half dozen of these and am keeping track of their names for a Hall of Fame. The thrill of seeing your chat window fill up with sold messages is priceless.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 83px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/S0vkX-ssckI/AAAAAAAAACU/Qxq9zFdmKOw/s400/iba.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425681276716479042" />

Hello and Goodbye

Hello to Shadow's Edge and congrats to my guild member for completing it this week. Gone is the quiet speculation of 12-hour auctions and scanning. This is the home of trolls, flame wars, spam and quick sales.

The first benefit of using Trade over the AH is the lack of listing deposits and 5% sale fees. While these are nice, the real benefit is an audience that might not ever see your item in the AH. You have the potential to catch the eye of an impulse buyer that didn't know he even wanted those Saronite Swordbreakers until you linked them, let alone if he even needs them.

First you need to decide what toon(s) to use for Trade Chat advertising. Do you want them to be the same toon that made the item or unrelated? Using the same one might generate some name recognition from all your sales in the AH of similar items. Using a different toon and advertising lower sales than YOUR OWN AH items from a different toon might encourage the notion that it's a deal.

Do you want to respond to trolls that flame your prices in Trade? Do you have the quick wit necessary to diffuse their attempts while still coming out looking like the good guy? If not then just stay silent and wait for your serious replies. If you do have the talent to grammatically wrap a troll around your little finger, then you can gain a lot of good will from Trade Chat because they're probably sick of him as well.

Since you're saving 5% from the Auction House cut of a sale, what discount, if any, do you want to offer? Is it acceptable to go lower in favor of quick cash to you? I personally don't go below the 5% reduction. This is still cheaper than what is available. If you start a little high, you can afford to agree to people's counter offers while still getting the price you had in mind originally. I like to advertise for 2-3% off AH prices and have a little bargaining room with those that whisper me.

Summary
If you treat the Auction House as real-time strategy, you'll end up with high blood pressure and a lot of wasted time. It's not a viable strategy, nor can it be maintained. It, by nature, has timed intervals between choices that each person makes. Stick to this format and make the correct decisions here. If you just camp the AH and cancel/post every time you're undercut then you're losing out on a lot more than deposits.

Similarly, don't treat Trade Chat as turn-based strategy. If you think you can afford an experiment on how to respond to someone - think again. The temperature of the population can go south quicker than you can imagine and you'll draw more attention to yourself and lose out on the chance to sell that item anytime soon.

Real-Time vs. Turn-Based Strategy part 2

Subjective Perception
Some aspects of WoW will be seen as real-time or turn-based depending on who you ask. For example, if you're in ToGC25 and a snowbold lands on you, causing you to begin a mad dash to the melee for help in removing the smelly, teabagging rodent - you'd perceive this as a real-time strategic move.

Your raid leader however, would see this as turn-based strategy. How did that ranged DPS react to the situation? Was the response time adequate when he got to the right location? Did he let the raid know of his situation? Would that player improve better with a brief comment on the performance, a whisper or a private talk between attempts? Each attempt on a boss is a Turn to a raid leader. Choices and changes are made behind the scenes each and every attempt to compensate or enhance past performances.

Raiders can start taking this same approach. Not necessarily in the same depth or level of responsibility, but reviewing their own log of the attempt, what they can improve on, who they can coordinate better with, etc. If everyone just tries the same thing each attempt, your only hope of success is very, very good RNG, if you were even close to being with.

Auction House
The Auction House is easily the purest form of turn-based strategy WoW has to offer and the potential for reward is endless.

If you can recognize the time between opening your sales and posting a new item as a Turn, you can start changing your business for the better. It's easy to get caught up in the habit of a cancel/post routine. Instead, use that time to do a little research before blindly posting again. If you got product back in your mailbox, then you're wasting deposits and not reaching your target consumers. Something can be done to improve your turnover.

The same as the raider that doesn't improve his performance each attempt, you don't want to be a goblin that throws his inventory at the AH and hopes for something to stick. You'll still probably make profit or kill the boss, but not as effectively as you could have. Acceptable is not a goal.

Keep track of the quantity and pace of your sales in each market before just posting another batch blindly. Maybe there's too much returned inventory each time you open your mailbox, indicating that you're flooding the market or being continually undercut. Maybe you always sell out and there's room for expansion. This would require you to beef up your production or purchasing of that item or it's mats though.

Use Turns to evaluate who your competitors are, what quantity they're posting in and undercutting values. Get a sense of how often they are refreshing their postings and come up with a competitive counter-schedule.

A main advantage of a Turn-based philosophy is that trial and error is encouraged. It's alright to make mistakes so long as you're aware of the risk involved and keep track of the result. With your progress broken down into little turns, each step along the way affords a learning experience.

Real-Time vs. Turn-Based Strategy part 1

I grew up playing turn-based games like Civilization, Heroes of Might and Magic and Sim City. They evolved into a profitable poker hobby. I never felt the pull towards first-person shooters and real-time strategy games that mostly stressed hand/eye coordination.

With turn-based games, the intentionally slower pace allowed for real introspection between strategic moves. Greater importance was placed on each decision. Actions and reactions could be determined many steps in advance. An environment of trial and error was encouraged, allowing you to experiment with new approaches to challenges.

Then came a casual recommendation from a friend to try the WoW free trial. Gone was the dislike for real-time combat and I found myself hooked right from the start. I'd bet that most people view WoW as purely a real-time game and less actually see strategy beyond maybe their spec and rotation. That doesn't mean it isn't there though. Far from it.

WoW's Duality

While I don't think I realized it consciously in the beginning, my draw to WoW was largely due do it seamlessly combining these two gaming styles. There are countless aspects of the game that should be treated as turn-based decisions. Gear progression is probably the most common for raiders. Balancing hit, expertise and defense caps, as well as soft caps for many specs in haste, crit and armor penetration.

Not only do you need to balance your current stats while maintaining the highest combination of gear, but you should be planning several upgrades in advance. Where do these items drop? How large is that boss's loot table and what is your chance to win the item in your group composition? Taking it a step further, responsible raiders will take their competitors into consideration and balance their choices on their teammates situations as well.

Planning your emblem purchases over time based on your rate of acquisition is also turn-based strategy over a period of days. As the weeks progress in patch 3.3, more and more Frost Emblems are available with the release of gated ICC wings and a new VoA boss. 41 were available the first week, with 35 the following 3 weeks. Starting Jan. 5th there will be 47/week until a minor patch for the new Arena season, and on and on. Will going for your two-set tier bonus be more beneficial or is there a relic slot item or trinket that is best-in-slot for your spec?

More importantly, is there a 'best' order of purchase that you can deduce that allows you to get all your wish list before a new raid night? You don't need everything by the earliest possible day (unless you really want to dominate in your Heroic run). You need it by the next main raid night. Taking into account that ICC takes less than one night to clear, you have an entire week between each progression raid to collect Frost Emblems. Not to mention more flexibility in what to purchase and when.

Most importantly though, is the notion of time management as a turn-based aspect. Everyone that plays WoW makes these decisions from the character screen until you log off. Which toon needs attention first? Do I need dailies or crafting or raid time or social interaction first?

The Three Ps

For goblins, time management is the key to watching your coffers rise at rates that keep you hungry for more. Being able to streamline your Production, Posting and Purchasing all depends on making calculated moves to compartmentalize your process. Just because you have a system in place doesn't mean it's optimized either. It's a good idea to review your process every once in a while to look for flaws or new ways of doing things that hadn't occurred to you before.

Sometimes it's the scale of your operation that will be the catalyst to trying something new. I didn't feel a need for multiple posting toons until I had branched into enough markets to really start stressing my time and patience. Once you are getting several hundred items in your mailbox, it's time to expand...

Having Quick Auctions 2 for specific posting groups helps to keep your process organized. Being efficient with this saves time and each toon should only have to mail, craft, cancel/post their inventory once.

Keep track of your farmers and suppliers with notes on your friend's list that tell you how often they're on and what they have to sell. I even rank them with a self-made 1-10 scale on how well they understand their own value. This helps me to determine an offering price for their items.

There is no rush with the AH, so make full use of your 'turns' to evaluate your progress. Be as hard on yourself as you can too. There's no point in justifying mistakes or covering up losses to yourself - it will only hurt you.

Happy New Year - 300,000g

As odd as the timing was, I hit 300k right near the stroke of midnight with an epic sale that pushed me over the mark.

I started on Oct. 25th, making it 68 days for this little milestone.

Slice of the Pie

A week away from the game for the holidays and I return to an economy in crisis, lol. No sooner had I logged in, than I get bombarded with guild messages about how the AH has gone crazy in my absence. I didn't think my slice of the pie was that influential, but coupled with the holiday influx of players... I'm sure it was out of whack.

It did bring up an interesting question though. Just how big of a slice do I have of my faction's AH? You can easily determine the number of auctions up at any given time by doing a blank search and looking at the total in the bottom right corner. For my realm, the average I calculated (read 3 times a day over 4 different days in the same week) was 15650 auctions. My Horde are a minority of course. The Alliance AH has roughly 27000 auctions at any given time it seems.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 209px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/SzwNvfY0hZI/AAAAAAAAAB0/83bKw8ttuko/s400/AHTotalbig.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421223160977851794" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 221px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/SzwN2YBLv3I/AAAAAAAAAB8/eT5RdGsjPVA/s400/AHTotal.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421223279258746738" />
I did the same readings for my posting toons and came up with 1170. I could take it a step further and look at total sell price percentage since I believe the majority of my items are 'big ticket' auctions such as epic gems, crafted epics, enchants, leg armors, spellthreads, etc. All of these are over 200g each with some significantly more. In any case, it looks like I have a 7.48% share of my Auction House. It's quite larger than I expected and puts a few things into perspective.

It is entirely possible for one person's absence to leave a posting/undercutting /crafting void if the time period is greater than 48 hours (longest posting period). Not only was I not crafting items and posting them for direct sale, but I wasn't here to help farmers unload their stock and disenchantable greens were piling up. Nor was I here to flip products, keeping the median sale prices where I like them.

For example, when clueless Player A comes along to post his Icescale Leg Armor at 1pm at a deep undercut, not only does the lowest price drop from 200g to 150g, but it generally won't sell either. Player A doesn't understand market timing and will be undercut for 149g by Player B. The average price has now tanked and will continue to be undercut until the golden hours of raiding which are statistically shown to be 7-11pm, depending on your server. That's when the huge traffic spikes occur from players.

Now imagine if a goblin was around, keeping an eye on the AH occasionally. He/she'd know to snag that 150g item, not primarily because it's cheaper and to flip it, but to nip the habit in the butt and stop any undercutting chains from beginning so low. Undercutting will always occur, but when you can control it's pace, you at least have a semblance of control and better profit margins. If Player A is not removed from the adult's table, the crazy train will keep gaining sheep, content in their conga line of mediocrity. Leg Armors would end up 90g each - which is where I found the market on my return, along with other similar items.

A little time away is always a good thing but I've learned that it can be informative too. Now I have a better understanding of my grasp on certain markets after seeing where they stand without me for a while, especially after witnessing immediate profit once I jumped right back in. Some were untouched while others were taken over by other goblins or ruined by overposting.

Your 'Slice of the Pie' is a quick test, so try it out yourself and see where you stand.

Character Setup

Toons
These professions could all be their own posts, so I'll just gloss over them for now.

80 Tauren Druid - Moonkin/Resto

Tailoring 450 - Spellthreads are the obvious moneymaker but with the abundance of Frostweave Cloth from 3.3's heroic runs, Frostweave Bags very cheap to make.
All raiding patterns. These are a great source of income whether you set a crafting fee (I enforce 5% of mat costs - example ToC bracers on my server would be 200g, chest 400g) or craft them yourself for a 1000-2000g markup and wait a few days for a buyer. If you choose to craft your own epics, the trade channel is the best choice as you can avoid the 5% AH cut and large listing fee for such high-priced items. You'll also have a better chance of luring a potential buyer that didn't know they wanted it, as opposed to the very few people that will search for such an item on the AH.

Jewelcrafting 450 - The level 70, 73, 77 green jewelry are obvious choices for the Prospect>Craft>DE chain gang. The level 75 blues that yielded 25g Dream Shards used to be great but with 3.3's increased Heroic runs, they aren't worth it since Dream Shards tanked to below 10g each.
A careful balance of expanding your Epic Patterns and getting free Dragon's Eyes is a good approach until you have 3-5 of the best selling cuts for each color. Any more and you generally won't have the stock available to meet the demand per day for each cut.

Cooking 450 - +40 Agility, Strength, Expertise and Hit are the best sellers in my experience, especially Hit and Exp during new patches since new upgrades come often and constantly maintaining the raid caps becomes a juggling act.

Fishing 588 - I never fish, but if I did, it'd be all Dragonfin Angelfish for raiders and Darkclaw Lobster for cooking levelers.

80 Orc Death Knight - Blood/Frost

Inscription 450 - All glyphs discovered. Still an enormous money maker but it's profit is very proportional to time invested if your server has AH campers like mine does. The Snowfall and other Inks can often sell for far greater profit than the glyphs they're used for, so make sure to find your server's saturation point for each Ink's sales. Vellums and Runescrolls sell consistently for a 300-500% markup. Make sure to vary your stack amounts to appeal to raiders, casuals and crafters.

Blacksmithing 450 - Same as Tailoring above with all raiding patterns. I produce Eternal Belt Buckles in bulk and generally sell 6-8 per day. Titanium Weapon Chains are a high profit percentage as well, but sell much less frequently.

75 Blood Elf Mage - Frost/Arcane

Enchanting 460 - All first and second-tier enchants for each slot are produced in bulk on vellums and posted two at a time. Additionally, most Agility twink enchants, Fiery Weapon and Crusader are all constant sales.

Engineering 450 - Ammunition is the only constant income stream for me and very self-explanatory.

17 Troll Shaman - Enhance

Leatherworking 90 - Currently have to rely on guild members for Leg Armors.

Alchemy 90 - Currently have to rely on guild members for Flasks, Potions, Transmutes.

Next up... I had seen it for maybe the fourth time on HBO while I was initially delving into the Auction House and the theme fit so well. There is a scene where the protagonist, an oil man, explains very dramatically and viscerally, that he will utilize someone elses commodity to make his money - by drilling diagonally for oil into another property.

This notion of capitalizing on the resources and ignorance of your neighbor is the very essence of being a WoW profiteer or goblin. Why spend your primary resource - time - doing dailies or farming mats when there is a population of thousands already doing it for you? When you can capitalize on their shortsightedness, mistakes and laziness, you allow yourself the biggest profit of all. More time.

Add-ons
There have been countless others that have explained their AH User Interface far better than I could, so I'll just point out the benefits I find most helpful or unique.

Postal - Make sure to customize options on what to open. I choose to exclude mail with item attachments so I can safely Open All and only fill up my bag space with gold and items I know I will be re-listing immediately. The 12-stacks of items that were mailed between characters can then be distributed, returned like a ping-pong ball to save on bank space or opened at your leisure once all important mail has been taken care of.

Auctioneer Suite - I really only use Snatch and Disenchant features under the Search tab. I have combined the themes of Snatch and Vendor to look for profit a step further than most do. While the Vendor feature just looks for items below a vendor's buyback price, you can add anything to Snatch with a threshold you set.
Let's take Dark Jade for an example. If we merely used Vendor, we'd only see these as profit if they sold for less than 25 silver each. However, if we take into account that any cut version vendors for 50 silver (100% markup!) and any Perfect cut sells for 1 gold(400%), then we can include it and any other green quality gems into Snatch for a threshold greater than 25 silver and still make money.
We can then apply this to any simple-crafted item(single reagents) for quick crafting profit that you can schedule in bulk and do while scanning the AH or marketing yourself in trade to save on time. Forest Emeralds are 3 gold, but cut they are worth 4 gold 50 silver.
This all assumes you have a crafter in the respective profession and an excess of stock that allows you to liquidate through a vendor while still having enough to meet the demand for crafted items that use these resources.
Make sure you update your price thresholds on everything often enough to not miss out on market fluctuations or get burnt by a tanking item that you continue to buy in bulk.

Quick Auctions 2 and LilSparky's Workshop - These are most valuable to me because of their ability to save the crafting queue by account, not character. I can do a summary on each of my posting toons that sells in a certain group, glyphs for example, and my lvl80 scribe retains the QA2 crafting queue for all of them.
I find using Groups is essential for effortless posting and canceling. While it can take a significant amount of time to setup, it becomes priceless in the long run. Just like with Snatch though, update your settings whenever the market changes so you don't miss out on trends.
I set up multiple Groups for my glyphs so each posting toon can have their own unique schedule, fallback, undercut amount, etc. This helps to distinguish them as seemingly different sellers and makes it harder for others to effectively shut down my slice of the market.
I have Groups for: enchant scrolls at or below 200g, 500g and 1000g values, dusts, greater and lesser essences, small and large shards, each Northrend Darkmoon Card variety, vendor pets, each color of cut and uncut gems at green and blue quality levels (epic gems listed individually to maximize current market value), Snowfall Ink, all other inks, Runescrolls/Armor/Weapon Vellums, etc. Basically each category of items that you want to share a certain value and item-per-post amount.

Prologue

Welcome,

First and foremost, this will be a blog centered around not just gold-making strategies (every goblin has those), but the reasons behind those strategies and ways to pre and post profit from those situations. Over the last two months I discovered a passion for gold making and challenged myself to hit the cap after reading a few prominent blogs. Two things happened - I easily hit the cap in six weeks and found a lot of the blogs lacking in clarity and depth.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 382px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/Sy3RfJcvkZI/AAAAAAAAABc/v-Kngyfq7YI/s400/GoldCap.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5417216259839201682" />

A beginning tycoon will recognize that prospecting his Saronite Ore will usually result in more valuable gems than ore sales. But, he or she probably won't take advantage of evaluating the market on: when this might not be true, when cutting those gems is better, what to cut them into, which to leave for further crafting into metas, engineer mats, DE greens, when to bulk sale, where the overstock point is, how to input this commodity into your add-ons for best effect, how to streamline storage/crafting/posting of the item, when to use the AH versus Trade, Alliance versus Horde markets, etc.

When we understand the Why of a profit, we can take advantage of the Who, What, When and Where to much greater potential. This blog will attempt to discuss the Why and cleanly extract from it - the How.

Background
I've been playing for a little over a year myself and never hurt for gold. This came from a very simple understanding of a couple markets that fit my two crafting professions. I earned more than enough to splurge on things and still afford a heavy raid schedule and help out guild members. During a slow period in raiding, I started seeing the real potential and challenges the economy offered and was quickly hooked. I immersed myself in a few blogs and flung myself into the learning process. Here was an entirely new skill set WoW could offer a challenge to. I found it the perfect counterpoint to the fast-paced environment of raiding and allowed me to skip the grindy aspects of dailies and the rare occasions of farming very specific items. I now have three characters with six crafting professions and am slowly but surely leveling a fourth with the last two crafting professions so I don't have to be dependent on the schedule of others.

While I have no end-game goal for the gold, much like WoW itself, I want these posts to focus on the journey itself, rather than the finish line. Funding the guild's transition from 80 to 85 would be a great sink though... If/when I hit a million gold, I have been toying with the idea of a sever cap - a notion brought up by a guild member that I haven't seen claimed yet. Since you can only have ten characters per server, this would be roughly 2.147 million gold. If I kept my rate, that's still 18 months and not a duration I'd like to lock myself into.

Next up...
Addressing the blog title choice for those that haven't made the connection, as well as go over my main toons, their professions and add-ons.

Final note - the new epic ammunition and ammo in general has been a hotspot for profit lately with different stacking amounts. Many will either not notice or misinterpret a stack of 100 for the normal 1000. Some take advantage of this and have made insane profits, even if they are short-lived. I wanted to take it a step further with the mad dash for the new epic ammo by posting as SINGLE arrows. They're not even a stack if you want to be technical :)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 207px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FvZ2NjbwWBs/Sy2xjMr19wI/AAAAAAAAABM/KS1-wY6UsjY/s400/SingleArrows.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5417181145055229698" />
